We are offering five different workshops in 2008 to be held here in Anacortes, Washington, in our gorgeously restored turn of the century building. Does the world need another photography workshop program? Well, not if it’s just another Zone System workshop or Photoshop class. (There are enough of those to go around.) The LensWork Workshops are not about "how to take a picture" or execute some darkroom procedure. Instead, our objectives are to offer information that is:
Our workshops offer hard-won information from our experiences as publishers of LensWork and LensWork Extended. These workshops may not be for everyone, but if you are interested in getting your work out into the world, there’s a lot to learn before you invest your time and money in printing, publishing, or marketing your fine art photography. You might be looking to produce a few handmade portfolio-type projects, or possibly a low-budget, short-run digital publication, or maybe a museum-quality fine art book bound for the world's bookstores! No matter where your objectives are in the spectrum, a foundation of information and practical experience will be of great benefit. Our workshops offer practical information that will help you find the right audience for your work in the right format - and to do so with the highest quality and fidelity. Each workshop is an independent offering. The five workshops are . . .
Details can be found by following the links. Workshop LocationsThe LensWork Workshops will take place here in beautiful Anacortes, Washington, a couple of hours north of Seattle, on Fidalgo Island — the gateway to the San Juan Islands. Anacortes is a beautiful spot to visit with lots of great restaurants, parklands and trails, quaint shops, and a thriving art community — and it’s a great place to photograph! There’s easy transportation from Sea-Tac airport, and lots of choices of accommodations for every budget and whim. Our beautifully restored 1891 building that looks out to Mount Baker and the tidal waters of the Puget Sound will be our workshop home. The five individual workshop topics will take place in our downstairs gallery.
Instructors and GuestsEach workshop will be taught by Brooks Jensen, Editor of LensWork. The Photography "Project" Workshop will also be taught by guest instructor Huntington Witherill. And don't be surprised if we have a few unexpected "drop-in" guests from the LensWork alumni and photographers in the area. We've arranged for a few folks to bring by their portfolios for some optional, impromptu evening sessions.
