Mehmet Ozgur’s landscapes — or more properly Visionscapes — are not real. Well, not entirely. This unique vision of the landscape idealizes the land in ways that go beyond the idealized landscapes of the traditional west coast school of photography. Ozgur constructs these images from his imagination and parts of “straight photographs” to present us with a new landscape that is enticing and seductive. For more information, click here.
Don Kirby’s Wheat Country portfolio appeared in LensWork #33 back in January, 2001. This work, primarily from the wheat-raising region of western Washington known as the Palouse, focuses on the interplay between fields and sky. This is our second folio of this work; the first was released in June, 2003 as a gelatin silver collection of 13 images. In this new folio of 10 pigment-on-paper images, we’ve selected several new images not released in the first version and also include some of Kirby’s now-iconic images of this photogenic landscape.
