Chinese art has a long history of using empty space to represent perspective and distance, whereas here in the West we use only the geometry of receding lines. Across the cultures, we both see, but perhaps see somewhat differently. For this reason, it is our great pleasure to introduce the LensWork Monograph readers to this important Chinese photographer and the Chinese aesthetic that influences his photography.
